As residents of Holly Springs are still awaiting answers on how four people were killed in the driveway of a home over the weekend, more details are beginning to come to light.
Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson told WREG out of Memphis, Tenn., that he believes the situation that took place in the 1000 block of West Woodward Avenue was a “murder-suicide.” When law enforcement arrived Sunday evening, they found three women and one man dead.
“Based on the evidence we have collected, based on the forensic interview of a child witness that was present when this tragedy occurred, it is my opinion at this time that it was a murder-suicide,” Dickerson told the TV station.
The victims have not had their names released, but Dickerson did mention that the man and one of the women were from Holly Springs. The other two women were from Memphis, which is less than an hour away.
The Holly Springs Violent Crime Task Force, made up of two sheriff’s deputies and two Holly Springs Police officers, investigated the scene and collected evidence. Another team came in and tried to locate any kind of video footage that may have been caught through a phone or doorbell camera. All of that combined resulted in Dickerson’s belief that it was a murder-suicide.
However, the sheriff is frustrated that he can’t say for sure as the State Crime Lab in Jackson has yet to return autopsy results.
“To say 100%, we will not know that until we get the professional forensic autopsy results in our hands,” Dickerson concluded.
Officials in Marshall County said two of the shooting victims shared a three-year-old child, who was not injured during the incident. She is currently in the care of another family member.
