Sheriff: Men Waited Twenty Minutes After Man Was Shot To Call 911

COVINGTON COUNTY, Miss.–It was a long 20 minutes for Britian Davis after he was shot at a party early Saturday. He’s now critical at Forrest General and his family thinks he may never walk again.

Sheriff Stan Smith told WDAM that his office got a call about a burglary and sent deputies out to the Sanford community to find Davis shot. He said it was soon clear that there was no burglary.

What he said really happened was that a group was partyin g at a house and there was some sort of conflict between Davis and Jonathan Arrington, 21, of Sumrall, who pulled a gun and shot Davis in the chest.

Smith said the men there waited 20 minutes before calling 911 so they could get their burglary story straight.

Now it’s an attempted murder and conspiracy charge for Arrington. His bond was set at $1.2 million Monday.
