The two other shooting victims, Brown’s wife and a “female accomplice,” were transported to a nearby hospital and later reported to be in stable condition.
Before killing Shields, Brown had been on law enforcement’s radar for alleged crimes ranging from possession of marijuana to armed robbery. The 42-year-old had a rap sheet that included 25 arrests but no convictions, according to WLBT-TV.
Shields, a 37-year-old who had been with the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office for nine months, will be laid to rest on Saturday in Jackson. A public visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Westhaven Funeral Home before a celebration of life service takes place at Jackson Revival Center.
