JACKSON, Miss. — Things were moving and grooving for Shape Up at the State Capitol Wednesday. It was an effort to promote health and fitness in Mississippi.
“We thought a great idea would be to start with state employees, if we can get our more than 130 thousand state employees fit, then they would effect their families and friends,” said Kathy Jackson with the Mississippi development authority.
“We want to chance our culture to a health and fitness culture.”
Some of your lawmakers were there leading the pack on a walk around the building. There were also several vendors offering exercise demonstrations and information for local fitness-related programs and facilities.
May is National Employee Health and Fitness Month.
