SOUTHAVEN, Miss.–It’s another hot day in Mississippi and several counties in the northwest part of the state are under a heat advisory. The heat index could be as high as 105, said the National Weather Service.
If you are in DeSoto, Marshall, Benton, Tunica, Tate, Coahoma, Quitman, Panola, Lafayette, Tallahatchie and Yalobusha counties, you are under a heat advisory until 7 p.m.
Most other parts of the state will see mid 90s, with heat indices up to 100.
But, you may get a thunderstorm to cool you off. North, Central and parts of south Mississippi have good chances for afternoon storms to develop.
You need to take heat precautions if you live in these areas. Drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks if you have to be outside, and check on the elderly and your pets.
