A convicted serial killer has been charged in a cold murder case on the Mississippi Coast.
78-year-old Samuel Little is currently serving three life sentences in a Texas prison. Recently, authorities say that the Little has admitted to up to 90 killings in 13 states dating back to the 1970s. One of those cases was the murder of Julia Critchfield, who was found strangled to death in Saucier in January 1978.
Investigators with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office were told that while Little was being interrogated by Texas officials, he admitted to the murder in Mississippi. The investigators flew to Wise County, Texas to interview Little and he gave his personal account of the killing.
Little was charged for Critchfield’s murder, and a news release states that he will “eventually’ be extradited back to Mississippi to face charges.
In a statement made to local media outlets in Texas, Wise County Chief Deputy Craig Johnson stated that it’s important to ensure that Little pays for his crimes.
“Closure is a big deal for those families,” Johnson said. “Tragedy is a big deal for those families. Anything we can do to help them out, we’re more than happy to.”
Little was already serving a life sentence in California after he was convicted of killing three women before he was transferred to Texas.
