JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. – Senator Rodger Wicker is trying to push legislation through congress that would ease restrictions on amateur radio operations in cities and towns where they might be banned.
Wicker met with some amateur radio operators in Central Jackson County Friday morning. While there, he did some broadcasting of his own.
It was all part of a special Hurricane Katrina anniversary event.
The Senator says ham radios played a crucial role in saving lives during Katrina.
