WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran announced Friday he will run for re-election in 2014. Several Mississippi lawmakers have had their eye on the senior senator’s seat, but the only one that has officially announced they would take on Cochran is Republican State Sen. Chris McDaniel of Ellisville.
Cochran has severed six terms as senator and will turn 76-years-old December 7.
