JACKSON, Miss. — The Mississippi Senate honored icon Jackson area newsman Bert Case Thursday for his decades of reporting in Mississippi.
“I know what it means to be recognized by this institution,” said Case, while standing on the floor of the Senate. “I’m humbled by it. I appreciate what you’ve done for me. That’s very kind of you.”
Case covered legislative and other news events for more than 30 years at WLBT before retiring in late January. Weeks later, he was hired as a part-time investigative reporter by rival station WAPT-News, where he had worked many years ago. “It’s the best job I’ve had,” joked Case. “Working three days a week; you can’t beat it. It’s just a fantastic opportunity.”
