Officials from the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department, Pearl Police Department, and Brandon Police Department have joined together in the search for a man who is on the run.
The perimeter has been released in the search for the man who ran from police after the stolen vehicle he was in was pursued by Pearl officers.
Under Sheriff Raymond Dukes confirmed that police had in custody one of the individuals spotted by Pearl Police on Monday morning driving a stolen vehicle. He said patrol officers are still on the search for the man.
“Around 8:30 this morning the Pearl Police Department spotted a stolen vehicle on the interstate. It had been stolen on the 23rd of last month out of Jackson. They began a pursuit with the vehicle headed east bound on the interstate,” said Dukes.
Shortly after officers from Brandon and Rankin County joined in the pursuit. Somewhere around mile maker 60 the vehicle left the roadway trying to get away, struck a tree, before coming back onto the road.
Two black men who were in the vehicle then exited the vehicle and took off into the woods. One man was apprehended by police and taken into custody. The second individual is still on the run.
K-9 units as well as Metro One were being used Monday morning to in aid in the search.
