A Scott County man accused of shooting, sexually assaulting, and setting an elderly woman on fire has been taken into custody after a nearly week-long search by law enforcement.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office reports that Sammy Patrick was arrested at the QuikTrip gas station in Byram just before 11 a.m.
Police had been on the hunt for Patrick since Saturday around 2 p.m. in the 3000 block of Old Jackson Road in Forest after he had abused and killed 78-year-old Dee Eady.
Prior to his arrest, the suspect had also robbed a local Subway restaurant on the Adams and Wilkinson county line on Monday and walked away with over $150 in cash as well as a sandwich.
Patrick was wanted for capital murder among multiple auto burglaries in Scott and Newton counties.
