Not everybody has been in the Christmas spirit this holiday season.
The Hattiesburg Police Department reports that a scorned lover has been taken into custody for allegedly shooting his estranged wife’s boyfriend in Hattiesburg on Christmas Day.
Authorities on Monday responded to a report of a shooting in the 40 block of Bermuda Drive just before 9 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male that had been shot twice.
As an investigation ensued, it was discovered that the suspect, Willie Earl Williams, 55, had entered the home of his estranged wife and shot her boyfriend, Louis Charles Martin, 55, in the right thigh and hand.
Martin was transported from the scene to a local hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
Williams was taken into custody and is charged with one count of burglary, home Invasion, aggravated assault, and use of a deadly weapon. He has been booked into the Forrest County Jail.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
