School Worker Accused of Using Racial Slur that School Children Heard

JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. – The Jackson County branch of the NAACP calls for the firing of a school bus driver accused of using a racial slur on a bus carrying elementary school age children.

The group said the incident occurred Monday and traumatized some children, who went home crying.  Leaders also allege this is not the first such incident involving the same driver, who is white.

Parents turned to the civil rights organization for help after they said their complaints to the district’s transportation director produced no results.  The school district confirmed that it is aware of the complaint and is investigating.
