Mississippi residents planning to submit an absentee ballot ahead of the April 22 municipal primary runoff elections will be able to cast their votes at local municipal clerk offices the next two Saturdays.
Municipal clerk offices will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on April 12 and April 19 for those who cannot vote absentee in person during the weekdays. Otherwise, eligible voters can cast in-person absentee ballots Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The mail-in absentee process is also open. For those voting in the primary runoffs by mail, ballots must be postmarked on or before the election date of April 22 and received by municipal clerk offices by 5 p.m. on April 30. For those absentee voting in person, the final day to do so is April 19.
According to Secretary Michael Watson’s office, residents wishing to vote through the absentee process can verify eligibility using the Y’all Vote website or by contacting their local municipal clerk. Eligible reasons for absentee voting include but are not limited to being out of town on Election Day, living with a disability, or being 65 years or older.
In all municipal primary runoffs taking place across the state, voters must stick to the party they voted for during the primary on April 1. Those who did not vote in the initial election will still be able to cast a vote in the runoff, with a choice between casting a ballot on the Democratic or Republican side.
