Rankin County deputies have seized 44 kilograms, or roughly 97 pounds, of cocaine.
According to Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey, on Monday, a deputy with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Interdiction Team conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 20 for a traffic violation.
During the interaction, the deputy became suspicious of the driver and the passenger after hearing different stories from both and requested a police K-9.
Another deputy arrived with his K-9 officer named Fox, who alerted on the vehicle. Roughly 44 kilograms were discovered hidden inside of the vehicle.
Both he driver, 50-year-old Mario Robledo-Jaurigi, and the passenger, 50-year-old Fernando Santiago-Arcuri, were arrested for aggravated trafficking of a controlled substance and were transported to the Rankin County Jail.
The case surrounding these two men is ongoing.
