The ribbon has been cut on Mississippi’s first casino-based travel center, which was opened to the public on Thursday.
Crystal Sky Travel Plaza was transformed from a dream into a reality by the Mississippi Band of Choctaws, who own the state’s Pearl River Resort casinos, after years of planning and construction.
“In continuing that evolution of Choctaw Resort Development Enterprise and the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, [Crystal Sky] is progress for the welfare of all of our more than 11,000 members that live here in Mississippi,” Tribal Chief Cyrus Ben said. “But it is not just for Choctaw members. We do strive to provide for our own people, yet it also evolves into supporting the state of Mississippi and this region as well.”
The 18,000-square-foot facility is in Louisville and includes 150 slot machines, a sportsbook lounge, a restaurant, 3,000 square feet of retail space, and fueling stations for both commercial and passenger vehicles.
Crystal Sky cost $25 million to build and employs over 100 people, promising to be open 24/7 for locals and travelers alike. It is located at 1320 South Church Avenue in Louisville.
