Restaurant gets sued for refusing service

HATTIESBURG, Miss.- The U.S. Attorney in Jackson says a Hattiesburg restaurant will pay a woman $3,000 for refusing her and her dog service, and then seating them in a corner. 

Vickie Killingsworth is in a wheelchair, which is why she brings her service dog with her wherever she goes. When she went to eat a the Grand China Buffet, they told her she couldn’t and then finally they let her sit in a corner.

Gregory Davis said that the establishment will pay $2,500 to Killingsworth and $500 to the Justice Department for violating her civil rights.

The owner Zhen Fei Chen agreed to having training for his employees on how to handle service animals as well as having welcoming signs at the front.
