JACKSON, Miss. — The woman that came up with the plot to kidnap her cousin’s 6-year-old daughter from her Kemper County Elementary school last year has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison.
The judge said Tuesday that he gave Jessie Mae Pollard an extra five years because she showed no remorse for the crime. Pollard had claimed she was out of her mind at the time. Investigators say she wanted to use the girl as leverage in a land dispute with the child’s mother. Jashayla Hopson was dropped off on a rural road a day after being abducted. She was not hurt.
