JACKSON, Miss. — They made the ultimate sacrifice to keep you safe; and Tuesday, the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS) honored the 32 men who have died in the line of duty during the 76-year history of the agency.
“The sadness and pain that those families go through from losing a husband and a father should never be forgotten,” said Governor Phil Bryant. “And we are here today to make sure that we never forget those who have given their lives in honor of law enforcement.”
DPS Colonel Donnell Berry said the fallen officers are an inspiration to all Mississippi troopers. “Their sacrifice is a part of the Highway Patrol…. They are heroes in the truest since. We will not forget their sacrifice, nor the sacrifice of their families.”
