This Committee passes HB1 which addressed the teacher pay raise deficit from last year’s $1,500.00 difference. After the raise was passed last year, lawmakers were made aware of some teachers that were coded incorrectly, meaning they did not get the correct raise intended.
This bill will cover over $18.4 million more in raises which will fund right over 42,000 teacher raises. According to Rep. Richard Bennett, this money will come from the general fund.
