Alex Deaton, 25, of Rankin County, was indicted by the Rankin County Grand Jury on Thursday on charges of murder, auto theft, and drive-by shooting.
The killings happened in February, followed by a multi-state manhunt which saw Deaton in Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Kansas.
District Attorney Michael Guest says the timeline for Deaton’s trial in Mississippi is difficult to determine.
“We’re still communicating with Kasnsas,” said Guest. “They want to try him there first. We hope that will happen later this year… best case scenario would be to get him to trial here by next spring.”
Guest said it could be October before Deaton comes back to Mississippi, and that’s if there’s no trial delay in Kansas.
