A Smith County School District employee accused of possessing methamphetamine on school property has resigned from his position.
Boyd Nichols Hillman, Jr., was taken into custody at Raleigh High School on January 23 following a K9 search of the campus parking lot, which resulted in the discovery of drugs in his vehicle.
Hillman was later charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and transported to Smith County Jail, with a justice court judge setting his bond at $50,000 the following day.
Since then, the Smith County School Board has confirmed that Hillman’s resignation effective January 24 has been accepted by a vote of 5-0.
Law enforcement released that Hillman is not believed to have been distributing narcotics to students at the school and that it was an isolated incident.
