TUPELO, Miss.–It may take months to substantially remove tornado debris so the rebuilding process can continue in areas hit hard by tornadoes last week. Now the forecast says the cleanup may have to take a brief pause for some thunderstorms expected to roll in to Mississippi by Friday.
But, the chances of another tornado outbreak with this system are very low.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Dan Byrd said some storms could get here early on Friday, but the bigger chances are Friday afternoon and into the overnight.
“Right now it doesn’t look like we’re gonna see any severe thunderstorms, but you can’t rule out a strong storm or two,” he said.
He said the main risk from the storms could be some heavy rainfall.
Some forecasts say rain could move in as early as Thursday night.
