A racehorse stolen in central Mississippi has been located in Kentucky and returned to the Magnolia State.
The Mississippi Agriculture and Livestock Theft Bureau (MALTB) announced on Tuesday that the racehorse, worth an estimated $7,000, was initially reported stolen by the Terry Police Department on February 28. That’s when state investigators began to look for the animal.
During the investigation, it was learned the mare may have been stolen by fraudulent means. Additional information surfaced that led MALTB to Todd County, Ky., where the horse was later found by authorities.
With the assistance of the Todd County Sherriff’s Office, MALTB was able to recover the stolen racehorse and have it returned to Mississippi.
An open and ongoing criminal investigation is continuing into the theft of the animal. No arrests have been announced at this time.
