Purvis police investigating after man shot, 300 pounds of weed seized

Police in the Mississippi Pine Belt are investigating a shooting and suspicious drug activity.

On Tuesday, officers with the Purvis Police Department responded to a call in the 800 block of Martin Luther King Drive. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered an unidentified 47-year-old man who had been shot multiple times.

During the investigation, officers located and confiscated over 300 pounds of marijuana, more than 200 packs of THC-infused candy, and five handguns.

Deputies with the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department are assisting Purvis police in the investigation. At this time, no arrests have been announced.
