College football will soon be underway in Mississippi and fans of the state’s HBCUs have a lot to look forward to.
On Tuesday, the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) released its list of players expected to make an impact on the field this year with eight of those suiting up for teams in Mississippi.
First Team

- TE Tavarious Griffin (Alcorn State)
- DL Malachi Bailey (Alcorn State)

Second Team
- TE Jaxson Davis (Mississippi Valley State)

As for team rankings, Alcorn State is projected to be the top dog in the SWAC West. Jackson State is predicted to be third in the SWAC East as Mississippi Valley State is anticipated to be last in the division.
The Braves, Tigers, and Delta Devils will kick off the 2024 campaign on Thursday, August 29.
