Big news for rock fans. A premiere date has been announced for WZZQ the Movie.
Director Ann Ford revealed this week that the movie remembering and celebrating the legendary classic rock station in Jackson will air on Mississippi Public Broadcasting on Monday, May 20 at 8 p.m. Four other airings are scheduled over the following 10 days:
- Friday, May 24 at 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday, May 25 at 7 p.m.
- Sunday, May 26 at 4:30 p.m.
- Thursday, May 30 at 2 p.m.
WZZQ the Movie will consist of first-person interviews with those associated with and affected by ZZQ102, which went off the air in 1981 after years of being the most popular station for rockers young and old across the metro area.
“I would say that if you have ever heard of ZZQ, it’s a really entertaining film,” Ford said. “If you have ever loved a radio station even if it wasn’t ZZQ. I mean there are lots of other radio stations around the state and country. If you’ve ever had that relationship, I think you’re really going to enjoy this movie. And if you just like watching entertaining people be entertaining, there’s a lot of it.”
