JACKSON, Miss. – Wednesday morning at 9:15 there will be a state wide practice tornado drill across the state. It is part of Mississippi’s Tornado Preparedness week. Next month is the start of tornado season and November happens to be one of the worst months for twisters.
“We are encouraging all schools and business and all folks that are going to be at home to make sure that they know what they should do and take action,” said Mississippi Emergency Management Spokesperson Greg Flynn.
Flynn says before the sirens go off, it is important to have a sit down with the family and know what you are going to do in case of a tornado. If you do not have access to a safe room the best thing you can do during a tornado is to get in the most interior part of your house, away from window and doors, and cover yourself so you do not get hit by debris.
