Two lottery jackpots have risen to take the spots in the top 10 largest hits in Powerball and Mega Millions history after no tickets matched the winning numbers during this week’s drawings.
The Powerball jackpot is now sitting at a record-breaking total of $750 million, while the Mega Millions grand prize has been increased to an estimated $560 million.
It’s been nearly three months since the Powerball jackpot was last hit in the April 19 drawing when a ticket in Ohio matched all five white balls and the red Powerball to win a grand prize worth $252.6 million.
Since then, there have been 35 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner. At this time, the odds of winning the jackpot are one in 292.2 million.
As for the Mega Millions jackpot, the last jackpot of $20 million was hit during the April 18 drawing.
“It’s interesting to see player interest increase when both national jackpots start increasing at the same time,” Mississippi Lottery President Jeff Hewitt said. “People begin talking about the jackpots with coworkers and family members, even standing in line at the grocery store. Despite the fun nature of the games, we do encourage everyone to play responsibly.”
The Mississippi Lottery Corporation is also reminding players to check their tickets as several large prizes from Mega Millions and Powerball have not been claimed.
Below is a list of unclaimed jackpots in Mississippi:
- $30,000 ticket purchased from Circle K on Bienville in Ocean Springs for the January 17 drawing. This ticket expires on July 16.
- $10,000 ticket purchased from Main Street Junction on West Beacon Street in Philadelphia for the March 28 drawing. This ticket expires on September 24.
- A Powerball ticket worth $1 million purchased from Sprint Mart on Highway 72 West in Corinth for the April 3 drawing expires on September 30.
