A Thursday afternoon standoff between Capitol Police officers and a male subject ended with no injuries.
Officers with Capitol Police responded to a call regarding a domestic violence situation at a residence on Fairview Street in Jackson.
Upon arrival, officers initially encountered a male subject, identified as 40-year-old Daniel Fairly, attempting to leave the residence. When officers approached the home, the subject retreated inside the residence. It was determined that there was a female subject in the home who was then taken hostage by Fairly.
The unidentified female was able to escape from the home without sustaining any serious physical injuries. Officers did not receive any injuries and were able to successfully negotiate with the subject and quickly de-escalate the situation at hand.
“Situations like this are never easy, but I am proud of the swift response done by the team here at Capitol Police,” Capitol Police Chief Bo Luckey said. “I am thankful for the patience displayed by these officers and that we were able to quickly and efficiently de-escalate the situation and come out of this with no injuries.”
Fairly was arrested at the scene without any further incident. Charges are pending.
