After a Hattiesburg high school guidance counselor was found dead in her home last week, her son has been charged with her murder. 51-year-old Sherry Johnson was found decapitated in her yard, outside her home near Wiggins in Stone County.
Her body had been there for several days when stone county deputies found her and her son, 29-year-old Terrell Johnson, has been arrested on a charge of first-degree murder.
Stone County Captain Roy Boggs said Johnson told family members that his mother was going on a cruise when they asked where she was. Boggs added that Sherry Johnson was assaulted multiple times and that they are trying to determine whether there were more people involved in the attack.
Terrell Johnson remains in jail without bond and now awaits a preliminary hearing on June 20th to decide whether he will be bound over to a grand jury.
