A police K-9 in north Mississippi had a grand debut on the force.
Calhoun County Sheriff Greg Pollan reports that Rooster, an 18-month-old German Shorthaired Pointer, helped deputies conduct a drug bust on the pup’s very first day on the job.
The incident took place on Saturday during a traffic stop in downtown Calhoun City. Rooster alerted authorities of the presence of drugs in the vehicle that had been stopped. Police then discovered methamphetamine wax inside the car.
Bryan Howell was arrested at the scene. Authorities were not familiar with any previous dealings with the laced wax substance in the county.
