Police have revealed that 13 of the 14 shooting victims from this past weekend’s gunfire outburst in Clarksdale have been released from the hospital.
According to reporting from WMC, shots rang out at three different downtown locations Sunday morning – Delta Avenue, West Second Street, and the intersection of Friars Point Road and Florence Avenue – with 14 individuals being injured.
As of now, police are saying gangs from Coahoma and Tunica Counties are to blame.
“It was a fight at the concert they left and everybody just gathered up at the 300 block of Delta, and that’s where the first incident occurred,” Clarksdale Police Department Sergeant George Johnson told the local TV station. “At this time, we don’t have any suspects, but we’re on the verge of closing in on the case.”
Police also added that multiple rifles, handguns, and shell casings were found at the scene on Delta Avenue.
All 14 victims are expected to make a full recovery. Anyone with relevant information is asked to contact CPD or the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.
