On New Year’s Eve, a Pike County man killed himself while accidentally killing his wife.
Alicia Hemphill Bush found her stepfather, Stuart Bush, and her mother lying on the floor of their Fernwood Road home around 7 p.m.
According to Pike County Sheriff’s Chief Investigator Chris Bell, Bush shot himself in the head with a high-powered firearm, and unfortunately, the bullet went through his head and struck Mrs. Bush, killing her too.
Bell told WLBT that “We do not believe he was trying to harm her. She would always call us when he was threatening to harm himself, and we’d go out.”
