GULFPORT- The name of the man hit and killed by a Gulfport police vehicle almost two weeks ago has been released.
The Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove has confirmed that it was 54-year-old Edgar Lambert, Jr. who was involved in the fatal accident on Jan. 19.
Hargrove said the delay in the release of the identity was because he was working to track down family members of the Bossier City, LA native.
Lambert was living homeless on the coast.
The accident occurred on Hwy. 49 and the Biloxi Police Department is still investigating the accident near Airport Road. Once the investigation is finished the findings will be given to a grand jury.
