JACKSON, Miss.–A new Mississippi Highway Patrol Campaign has kicked off aiming to make your roads safer.
They’ll be looking for distracted drivers on the road during their “Pay Attention or Pay a Fine” campaign.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that if you’re texting and driving or eating a Big Mac while driving down the road you’ll get pulled over though.
“What we’re observing is the actions of the vehicle,” said Lieutenant Johnny Poulos.
So that means if you’re doing those things and swerving around the road then you will indeed get pulled over.
The MHP is also getting sneaky when it comes to watching your on-the-road behavior.
“They’ll be both marked and unmarked cars during the campaign,” said Poulos.
So just because you don’t see the blue lights on top of a car doesn’t mean you’re in the clear.
“We’re going to do this in every part of the state,” he closed.
