Thousands in Louisiana still don’t have any power. That means gas stations can take fuel, but they don’t have the power to distribute it to individuals. Several Louisiana grocery stores have used generator power to open for customers a few hours at a time.
As a result, Louisiana residents are coming to south Mississippi in search of fuel. And it’s in short supply. Those who can find it are waiting in long lines to get it.
Governor Tate Reeves assured residents that Mississippi’s refineries are operational. “We are running both Pascagoula and Collins basically 24-7. We’re going to continue to meet those needs. But everyone needs to be patient and recognize that these are challenges that are before us.”
