HAZLEHURST, Miss–News Mississippi has an anonymous source inside Hazlehurst Middle School describing what can be seen as parents rush in for their children.
Ebola is a world-wide fear right now, and that fear has struck in Hazlehurst. Parents are rushing to Hazlehurst Middle School to get their kids after learning the principal has just returned from his brother’s funeral in Zambia.
A source on the inside that wishes to remain anonymous has told News Mississippi what is going on.
“Our principal went to his brother’s funeral weekend before last. He just got back and is at work today. Honestly, we have chaos with kids being checked out left and right. It’d be one thing if he’d waited long enough to know for sure, but he didnt. He came straight back to work.”
The principal returned this morning, but is now on administrative leave.
“He did go home and I heard he is getting paid leave for 3 weeks until they know for sure. He was nice about it and said he’d be praying for the rest of us.”
The source says the parents are flooding to get to the kids.
“They have a crowd of parents outside, so as they get students they send them to the front until they get through the line for check out. It’s chaotic.”
Though the principal wasn’t in Liberia or Sierra Leone, the source says it’s obvious why people are in a panic.
“I think they tried to say it wasn’t an issue because he wasn’t ill. Still though, he hasn’t been back long enough to even know.”
