The Oxford-Lafayette Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Foundation (EDF) are working on an NIL partnership that will give money to every student-athlete at Ole Miss.
Richard Cross of SportsTalk Mississippi has been informed that the name, image and/or likeness program will contain three sectors: overall, team-directed, and player-directed. The money will come from businesses and individuals that are part of the chamber.
“At its core, the idea is that there is not a bigger economic driver for Oxford as a community than on-field success for Ole Miss,” Cross said.
The second layer of the program would provide mentorships and internships to students who opt-in.
Oxford is believed to be the first college town in America to implement this model. More details are expected to come out soon.
