Beaver fever will soon be alive and well in Mississippi. Officials confirmed that the state’s first Buc-ee’s will open in just over two months.
The colossal convenience store is set to hold a grand opening in Pass Christian on Monday, June 9, according to the Sun Herald. This comes after an original opening date was announced for spring 2025 before officials moved the timeline up to as early as November 2024 before pivoting back to this summer.

“We are currently set to open in Harrison County, MS, on June 9,” the Buc-ee’s media department told the newspaper.

The delays happened naturally as a plethora of roadwork was needed along Interstate 10 to prepare for the influx of traffic that Buc-ee’s locations across the U.S. have historically received. With that roadwork making progress and the store’s soon-to-be home at the Menge Avenue exit nearing ready to accommodate thousands of visitors daily, Buc-ee’s recently held a job fair to fill the over 200 positions necessary to run the travel station.

Mississippi’s first Buc-ee’s location will be one of the largest to date, rounding out at 74,000 square feet. It will include 120 fueling positions, 24 EV charging stations, a car wash, and all the snacks that have made it one of the nation’s most popular roadside stops. Mississippi is part of the Texas-based travel center’s incoming eight-state expansion that also includes North Carolina, Colorado, Louisiana, Missouri, Ohio, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
