JACKSON, Miss. — Visitation at two Mississippi prisons has been canceled.
Corrections Commissioner Marshall Fisher said the decision was made after guards at Central Mississippi Correctional Facility and the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman found homemade weapons, spice, cellphones during a shakedown Tuesday, the same day a box filled with contraband was delivered to one of the facilities in a commercial vehicle. Fisher said the decision to cancel visitation is not to punish families; but he said the bad behavior by inmates cannot be rewarded.
