The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is assessing an officer-involved shooting on the Mississippi Gulf Coast Wednesday morning.
According to officials, narcotics officers with the Gulfport Police Department observed a suspicious subject walking along Dedeaux Road. When officers attempted to make contact with the unidentified subject, the subject allegedly fled and then presented a weapon toward the officers.
Officers at the scene then reportedly discharged their weapons, striking the individual. The subject was transported to a local hospital in an unknown condition. Police did not sustain any serious injuries.
State authorities are continuing to investigate the shooting. Upon completing their investigation, MBI officials will share their findings with the Attorney General’s office.
