One man is dead and another was injured as a result of Monday night shooting in Canton.
Officers arrived at the home on South Walnut Street on Monday night, and found the body of 53-year-old Darrel Champion after he had been shot and killed. Investigators say that Champion was visiting the homeowner, Vernon Groff, who was taken to a local hospital for after suffering from a gunshot wound. According to Sergeant Ware with the Canton PD, Groff’s condition has been upgraded from critical to stable.
It appears that the shooter was let into the house before he or she opened fire. Investigators do not have any leads or suspects in the case and are asking for help from the public.
