An investigation is underway after an officer-involved shooting left one person dead in McComb.
According to a news release, officers with the McComb Police Department responded Thursday to a report of a suspicious vehicle. When they arrived at the location near 212 25th Street, two people were said to have gotten out of the reported vehicle. One brandished a weapon, prompting officers to discharge their firearms.
The armed individual was killed, and another was taken into custody.
However, the vehicle in question fled the scene as authorities believe three to four additional suspects were inside at the time of the incident. On Thursday night, law enforcement confirmed the 2016 Dodger Charger had been found but not the other suspects.
Law enforcement considers the individuals armed and dangerous. Anyone with relevant information is asked to call 911 immediately.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case. Once the agency’s investigation is complete, agents will turn their findings over to the attorney general’s office for further review.
