GULFPORT, Miss.–Mississippi’s beaches were crowded with people enjoying the water this weekend, many perhaps not knowing that environmental officials believe some of the water may contain illness-causing bacteria.
The Miss. Dept. of Environmental Quality issued warnings for two parts of the beach Saturday, both in Harrison County.
None of the beaches in Mississippi have been closed.
The DEQ also issued several warnings Friday when they got samples that showed some of the water had unsafe bacteria levels and could potentially make you sick.
