Officials in Olive Branch have officially broken ground on a nearly $3 million animal shelter.
Mayor Ken Adams and others put shovels in the ground on Friday to kickstart the construction on the new center that is expected to open up in the fall of 2026. The facility, located at the intersection of Polk Lane and Silo Drive, will be a total of 6,652 square feet with room for 65 dogs as well as a designated cat room.
“This new facility will provide our Animal Services Officers the resources and space to meet the needs of our City,” a portion of a social media post from the city of Olive Branch reads.
Olive Branch’s current animal shelter is located at 7100 Stateline Road. It is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 pm and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The animal shelter is overseen by the city’s police department. To view all animals that are available for adoption, click here.
