The Ole Miss women’s basketball team will kick off the upcoming season on an international stage.
Officials announced on Tuesday that the Lady Rebels will participate in the 2024 Aflac Oui-Play in Paris, France against projected top-10 USC on Monday, November 4 from Adidas Arena.
For the second year in a row, Complete Sports Management is presenting NCAA regular season games in Paris. Ole Miss and USC will be two of a total of 17 Division I men’s or women’s basketball programs in NCAA history to play a regular season game in Europe. The meeting is also the first matchup between the two schools.
“I am extremely excited Ole Miss has been invited to play in Paris as part of one of the premier events in all of sport against an outstanding opponent in Southern Cal,” Ole Miss head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin said.
“Playing in Europe to kick off the college basketball season is not only a once-in-a-lifetime cultural and educational experience for our student-athletes, but also is an opportunity to participate in an event that showcases women’s basketball at the highest level and growth of our sport worldwide.”
Last season, the Lady Rebels competed in the “Battle 4 Atlantis” in McPhee-McCuin’s home country of the Bahamas. Ole Miss recorded a clean sweep, ousting Howard, Arizona, and Michigan to become the champion of the early regular season tournament.
The team carried that momentum into a successful season that resulted in Ole Miss appearing in the NCAA Tournament as a No.7 seed with a win over No. 10 seed Marquette in the first round and a season-ending loss to No. 2 seed Notre Dame in the round of 32.
