Police on the campus of the University of Mississippi responded to the death of a student on Friday morning.
According to the Oxford Eagle, the unresponsive student was found near an on-campus parking lot. It’s unclear at this time which parking lot and what the cause of death was.
The University of Mississippi released the following statement in response to the news:
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of this student, and our hearts are with their loved ones during this difficult time. Dealing with loss is never easy. We urge our community to support and show empathy toward each other.”
The student’s name is being withheld for the time being as an investigation is underway. Ole Miss officials also used the release to offer any individuals struggling or in need of assistance to contact the University Counseling Center or utilize UMatter, an online resource tool.
This is the second instance this month where an Ole Miss student has been found dead. On Oct. 6, freshman Cameron Tucker was discovered unresponsive in his dorm room.
