The Ole Miss football team has moved up three spots to No. 13 in the latest Associated Press poll after Saturday’s 27-20 win over Arkansas.
It wasn’t a pretty game in Oxford, but heroic performances from the Rebels’ defense and running back Ulysses Bentley IV paved the way for the team to outscore the Razorbacks.
Ole Miss followed up their nail-biter upset victory over LSU with another contest that went down to the wire. With under two minutes left to play, Arkansas had the ball and was driving the field, giving Rebel fans an eery reminder of the 2021 match — one where the Razorbacks scored as the clock expired but failed to convert the two-point conversion, securing a 52-51 Ole Miss win.
Rebels’ defensive back John Saunders alleviated fans’ PTSD by picking off a K.J. Jefferson pass to put the offense back on the field. Bentley secured a needed first down to allow Jaxson Dart to kneel out the clock and lead the team into the bye week with a 5-1 record.
