The Ole Miss men’s golf team is ranked No. 1 in the country for the first time in program history.
An extraordinary fall campaign, in which Ole Miss won their final two tournaments of the season, put the Rebels at the top of the men’s college golf mountain. It continues a mounting streak of national achievements, begun in 2017 with individual NCAA national champion Braden Thornberry.
October was especially historic for Chris Malloy’s club. They finished with a 54-hole score of 838 (-26) at the Empire State at the Hamptons Intercollegiate earlier this month, racing to a 20-stroke victory. Junior Michael La Sasso recorded his first individual tournament win after finishing 11 strokes below everyone else in the field.

In the final fall opportunity, Ole Miss again topped the tourney at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational with a team score of -20. It marked the first time the program had won back-to-back team victories since the 2016 campaign.
The Rebels finished in the top 2 of each of the four fall tournaments, led by Michael La Sasso’s 69.33 stroke average. Five different players wearing the red and blue had six or more below-par rounds across the fall season, with La Sasso, Cameron Tankersley, and Cohen Trolio each finishing in the top 10 thrice.
Up next for Ole Miss men’s golf is the spring season, beginning at the Thomas Sharkey Invitational on the first of February in Statesboro, Georgia.
